I wonder, what's deliberate and what's not. & being not tactful, might means its a slip of the tongue, and implies exactly what the person is thinking about. But well, it doesn't bother me. Perhaps, disappointment is the best word to describe it.

Shouldn't it be encouragements instead, I wonder. Unless behind it are untold secrets, which sometimes it's that easy to get things figured out.
